"OSS" The Nightmare of Turkish Students

OSS is a huge part of Turkish Exam System while the students are passing through university from the high school. Students take OSS which is an exam with two sections including 120 + 180 questions in a certain time. For many people argue about this system and arguements still continues. Is it true to draw a student's future based on an exam? Is it right to narrow a student's social life? Is it acceptable to put huge pressure on young shoulders at the most important years of their lives? At OSS system students should make the best thing they can in the exam in order to get in a university. The success that you had during your high school life counts a little therefore if something goes wrong during the multiple choiced exam you won't be accepted in a university that you had deserved. For example if you get ill, your parent passed away, get excited and couldn't concentrate on the exam than you will lose one year in order to get prepared for the next years OSS. Students who have the chance for both taking IB courses and OSS generally chose IB program because it doesn't belong only one exam and they have chance to get better because in IB they consider all of the process that you had taken. Students who prepares for OSS goes to private establishments called "dershane" and splash the cash. Dershanes put lessons the almost every day and students pass their weekends at dershanes. They also should solve many test questions every day and this process continues for minimum two years. Students cannot find free time in order to make social services and they can't get the taste from life. We should not forget that students are not programed machines and they had feelings. Also piling the pressure on them will hurt them and may be the start of some ilnesses and pshycological problems. Authorities should prefer a system which ables students to make some social things rather than going only dershanes and the futures of young talents won't be based on a one frightening exam.

What would you like to be famous for?

I would probably want to be famous for being a soccer player. I realy enjoy soccer and if I had a chance I would really want to feel the atmosphere to playing for a team in a huge stadium in front of the fans of the club I will play for and want to hear entusiastic chants of the fans. Giving your best for your team's success, getting the tactics from your manager and getting order from the more experienced players, playing with your idols would be great.
